We dedicated this evening's Boudin Barndance to Drew Glackin of Silos, Tandy, & Jack Grace Band fame (among others) who passed away at all too young an age last Saturday. My wife & I first met Drew when he came here to R.I. for a house concert series we had just started backing Florence Dore who we had booked. They arrived the night before and beginning with that visit, a lasting friendship was formed. He returned on two more occasions over the years for house concerts by The Silos and the Jack Grace Band and had more personality than the house could sometimes hold. His lap steel work was oft-times mesmerizing in the house concert setting. We'd also run into Drew in Brooklyn & Austin for music stuff and he always had a hug and a big smile. We closed out the Barndance this evening with a lengthy set of material on which Drew contributed. It was hard not to get choked up. We miss him already.

Began the show with a look back on some 2007 reissues that hit the sweet spot. Other Barndance activity this evening included music from a couple of bands playing the Your Roots Are Showing series at the Liberty Elm Diner in Providence, the Stumbleweeds and Lucky 57. Simply put, it's one of the coolest new venues in the area. Check out www.myspace.com/libertyelm. Lots of new stuff making the Barndance hit parade for the first time. They included new ones from Reverend Organdrum, King Louie & the Loose Diamonds, The Fleshtones and Marah. Buttshaker of the week???? The Jack Grace Band with "Try Not to Cry".
